Happy Hen is the consumer brand of Switz Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, a privately held business with roots in three generations of poultry experience in Sri Lanka. From the beginning, the company has combined deep local operating knowledge, long-term stewardship, and an international outlook.
The company was founded on a simple conviction: Sri Lankan families deserved an egg brand they could identify, trace, and trust. At the time, eggs were largely sold through fragmented supply chains, with limited branding and little visibility of where or how they had been produced.
To address this need, Happy Hen invested in a modern, technology-led layer farm designed to provide greater control over nutrition, flock health, food safety, and product handling. That original investment established a culture of continuous improvement. As technology evolved and the business grew, we continued to modernise our farming systems and invest in automation, traceability, and internationally recognised food safety standards, helping to raise the standard of egg production in Sri Lanka.
Today, more than 350 people across our farms, feed mill, grading and packing operations, packaging plant, distribution network, and support functions bring our founding purpose to life every day. Their knowledge, discipline, and commitment enable us to provide complete traceability, consistent quality, and reliable supply to households, retailers, hotels, restaurants, food manufacturers, and export customers.
Our history also shapes how we think about the future. We believe farming must be both productive and responsible.
Through renewable energy, resource conservation, water management, recycling, Eco Plus organic fertiliser, and moulded pulp packaging, we are building a more circular agricultural system that uses resources efficiently, reduces waste, and creates value for communities and the environment. Every egg we produce reflects that commitment, delivering trusted nourishment today while helping to build a more sustainable tomorrow.
